Information for Applicants

Masterclass: Saturday 28 March 2026, 14.00-16.00, GlassBox Theatre, Gillingham

The Passaggio Vocal Award is open to all genres of music.
Applicants must be aged 16 – 25 (as of the date of the masterclass). If selected, applicants may be required to show proof of age.
Applicants must have a home address in Kent or Medway.

Application fee of £8 to be paid at the time of application.
Applications are accepted through our online application form only.
Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.
There will be no refunds for late applications, withdrawal or for unsuccessful applicants.
Applicants not chosen to compete are encouraged to attend and will be granted free entry as observers.
Up to six competitors and two standbys will be chosen (in case of cancellation by a competitor).
Standbys will be expected to attend the masterclass.
Singers chosen to compete (and standbys), must provide a digital copy of the sheet music by Saturday 14 March 2026.
Competitors should prepare two contrasting songs to be performed from memory.
The combined time of the two songs may not to exceed 7 minutes. (Time may not allow for the performance of both songs).
Acoustic performance only - songs may be accompanied, self-accompanied, or a cappella.
No backing tracks, microphones, electric instruments, amplifiers, or other technical equipment.
An accompanist will be provided but competitors are also welcome to bring their own. Singers choosing to work with the provided accompanist may rehearse with them in their own time and at their own expense.
Competitors under 18 years of age will need to be accompanied by an adult. For more information, please consult our Safeguarding Policy.
Competitors agree to be contacted by the Trust to hear about your progress and to ask for your help in promoting the work of the Trust.
Competitors agree to be photographed and/or filmed for the purposes of promoting the Trust.
