KaMYM Trust/Kent Music Partnership Project

It has been a real privilege for KaMYM Trust to partner with Kent Music this year to help widen access to instrumental lessons for young people across East Kent, with a particular focus on Thanet and Dover. In areas where financial barriers can too often limit opportunities, both organisations share a firm belief that every child deserves the chance to learn a musical instrument and experience the life changing power of music.

Through this partnership, KaMYM Trust has awarded grants to 15 young people, enabling them to receive weekly 20 minute individual instrumental lessons with expert Kent Music tutors, completely free of charge. In addition, each student has the opportunity to join a Kent Music Centre ensemble at no cost, opening the door to vital experiences of ensemble playing, friendship and musical growth.

Many of the students supported are GCSE musicians, for whom instrumental performance is a crucial part of their studies. For some, access to regular lessons has been genuinely transformative, boosting confidence, strengthening skills and allowing them to truly shine in their assessments.

KaMYM Trust is immensely proud to support these talented young people and hopes that this financial support will not only ease immediate barriers, but also inspire them to pursue their musical ambitions with confidence, creativity and joy.
